Taking Your Blood Test – Important Instructions

  • At-home blood testing is straightforward, but there are a few important steps that can make all the difference. To avoid mistakes and keep things running smoothly, please take a moment to read through this guide.
  • Take the test before 10am (testosterone peaks in the morning), having fasted for at least 8 hours. Drinking water only is fine.
  • Avoid strenuous exercise 24 hours before. Heavy lifting or intense workouts can temporarily alter hormone levels.
  • Avoid alcohol the night before. Alcohol can temporarily lower testosterone and affect other biomarkers.
  • Please post your sample as soon as possible.

Instructions for taking a Tasso+ blood test

The Tasso+ device is single-use and designed for a virtually painless experience. Once applied to your upper arm and activated by pressing the red button, you may not feel the needle or notice blood flow right away–but don’t worry, it's working! Leave the device in place until the sample reaches the top fill line. Once removed, it cannot be reapplied or reused.

Get ready

  1. Wash your hands thoroughly. If a healthcare provider is assisting, they should wear gloves.
  2. Remove all contents from the kit. Don’t press the red button yet–the device is single-use. If there's hair on your upper arm, shave the area to improve adhesion and blood flow.
  3. Twist off the cap from the collection tube. Insert the tube into the Tasso+ device with the fill lines facing outward (same side as red button). Push until snug.

Warm the collection area

  1. Activate the heat pack by bending the metal disc back and forth until it clicks and warms. Hold the heat pack against your upper arm for 2 minutes to improve circulation or rub the arm area gently for 30 seconds.
  2. Clean the warmed site with the alcohol pad and let it air dry completely.
  3. Remove the clear plastic cover from the red button–be careful not to press it yet.

Apply the device

  1. Peel off the adhesive backing from the device.
  2. Stick the device to your upper arm with the tube pointing downward. Keep your arm relaxed and hanging straight by your side. Set a timer for 5 minutes.

Collect the sample

  1. Press the red button fully down once and release. You may not feel anything, and blood might not appear immediately–this is normal.
  2. Watch the blood fill the tube using a mirror if needed. Remove the device once the timer ends or earlier if blood reaches the top fill line. Do not overfill.

Finish the collection

  1. Gently peel off the device starting from one side. Apply the provided bandage vertically and press lightly on the area for 30 seconds.
  2. Remove the collection tube from the device with a slight twist and pull down.
  3. Securely snap the cap onto the tube.

Mix and label the sample

  1. Gently invert the tube 5 times to mix (do not shake). It's normal for the gel in the tube to remain separate.
  2. Write your details on the tube label above the barcode.

Prepare for return

  1. Place the tube into the provided clear return bag and seal it. Do not remove the pad inside.
  2. Dispose of remaining materials. Return your sample using the instructions provided in your kit.
