Follow these steps to take an at-home blood sample using a lancet.
Tips
Taking Your Blood Test – Important Instructions
At-home blood testing is simple, but a few key steps will ensure your sample is accurate and processed without delay.
-
Take the test before 10am (testosterone peaks in the morning), having fasted for at least 8 hours. Drinking water only is fine.
-
Avoid strenuous exercise 24 hours before. Heavy lifting or intense workouts can temporarily alter hormone levels.
-
Avoid alcohol the night before. Alcohol can temporarily lower testosterone and affect other biomarkers.
-
Please post your sample as soon as possible.

Instructions for taking a lancet finger-prick blood test
This kit uses a spring-loaded lancet to collect drops of blood from your fingertip. Follow the steps below carefully for a smooth and successful collection.
Get ready
- Wash your hands thoroughly with warm water and soap.
- Lay out all kit contents.
- Choose a fingertip (ring or middle finger works best). Avoid the thumb.
- Twist off the cap of the collection tube and keep it close by.
Warm the collection area
- Good blood flow is essential. Warm your hands under a tap or soak them in warm water for 2 minutes.
- Shake your hand gently at your side to encourage circulation.
- Clean the fingertip with the alcohol wipe and let it air dry completely.
Collect the sample
- Prepare the lancet
- Twist off the lancet cap.
- Place the flat end firmly against the side of your fingertip (not the pad—this gives better flow).
- Make the incision
- Press the lancet firmly until it clicks.
- Wipe away the first drop of blood with the gauze.
- Encourage blood flow
- Gently massage from the base of the finger toward the tip.
- Do not squeeze aggressively – this can dilute the sample.
- Fill the tube
- Allow drops to fall naturally into the collection tube.
- Fill to the upper line indicated.
Finish the collection
- Once filled, securely snap the cap onto the tube.
- Apply pressure to your fingertip with gauze for 30 seconds.
- Apply the provided plaster.
Mix and label the sample
- Gently invert the tube 5 times to mix. Do not shake.
- Write your details on the tube label above the barcode and stick onto the collection tube.
Prepare for return
- Place the labeled tube into the clear biohazard bag and seal it.
- Do not remove the absorbent pad inside the bag.
- Dispose of remaining materials safely.
- Place the sealed biohazard bag into the return mailer.
- Fold and place the request form in the return mailer, apply the Track24 label, and post your sample the same day.
- We recommend taking your test and posting it between Monday and Thursday to ensure the fastest return and processing of your blood test.
